Roger Hollies
Chief Technology Officer, Arenko Group
Roger Hollies is Chief Technology Officer at Arenko Group, where he leads the design team developing technical solutions for the design, installation and operation of energy storage systems. He has been on the front line of Battery Energy Storage for over 10 years, and as the CTO of Arenko, he is responsible for delivering the first behind the meter grid-scale energy storage system to be installed and operated in commercial markets in the UK. Roger has been working on developing innovative sustainable energy systems for over 15 years, and he has extensive experience in renewable energy, energy efficiency and renewable integration.
Sarah Mackintosh
Director, Cleantech for UK
Sarah is the Director leading the Cleantech for UK initiative, building a coalition of cleantech and policy leaders to scale up sustainable innovation in the UK. Before joining Cleantech for UK, Sarah spent 11 years working in the UK civil service, primarily on energy and innovation policy and legislation. She began her career as a research associate working on carbon capture and storage. Sarah holds a degree in Environmental Science, a PhD in Isotope Geochemistry and a Master’s in Public Policy.
Gary Howe
Senior Risk Engineer, Fire Engineering, Zurich Resilience Solutions
Gary is a Senior Risk Engineer at Zurich with over 35 years' experience. He is a subject matter expert in the field of fire safety of battery energy storage systems (BESS) and fixed fire protection covering sprinkler, water mist, gaseous, deluge systems and automatic fire detection. Gary is a Fellow of the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) and President of his local branch of the IFE. He is a registered assessor with the Institution of Fire Engineers, undertaking reviews, mentoring and support to individuals to achieve internationally recognised professional fire engineering qualifications.
Anne Geschke
Research Associate, Aurora Energy Research
Anne Geschke is a Research Associate focused on European battery markets. She manages the delivery of Aurora’s flagship European Battery Markets Attractiveness Report and leads analysis on Aurora’s views of battery costs, technical parameters, and demand-side flexibility. After joining Aurora Energy Research in 2022, she worked on the Dutch market, specialising in battery economics and consulting on topics such as grid fees, flexibility, and PPAs, before moving to the Pan-European perspective. She also contributed to consulting major German utilities, for instance via strategy papers on the case for batteries in supporting German and overall European grids.
Tom Andrews
Senior Consultant, Cornwall Insight
Tom is a Senior Consultant at Cornwall Insight with nearly ten years in the sector. He works mainly in electricity, particularly flexible generation, smart networks, and energy storage, focusing on providing buy- and sell-side due diligence support, taking a holistic view of future energy markets. His experience includes modelling the economics of generation, flexibility and private wires, conducting business plan reviews and red-flag assessments, and green certificate market dynamics.
Joe Miletic
Founder and Director of Solclaris
Joe Miletic is Founder and Director of Solclaris, providing independent owner-side technical and commercial advice across solar PV and battery storage. He was previously Managing Director of Amberside Management Solutions and Solar Lead at Foresight Group, where he worked across a UK solar portfolio of approximately 1 GWp. His BESS experience includes investment due diligence and owner-side work on commissioning, operational performance and contractual risk.
